I was never popular in school, and as a result, I tend to ignore things like St Valentines’ Day. I often felt jealous of most of the other children getting their cards and that I normally didn’t get any. However, there was one occasion when I was attending primary school that I had fancied this girl from afar, you know, the stupid childish infatuations we always have.
I had bought a pack of red roses with my pocket money. Walking to school, I was very proud of the roses and I wanted to impress her. Unfortunately, at the same time, I needed to wee badly. When I handed my roses to her, she smelt them, but then she threw them in the nearest bin and walked away.
I started crying and wet myself through my pants. The other children looked at me and laughed. That was a rare St Valentines’ Day for me, it turned out to be a complete disaster.
