This has been all over the web, and has been mentioned in an article for the UK Metro freesheet:
It’s a feeling many of us are familiar with- sitting in the cinema, crossing your legs but you just know that if you make a dash for the toilet you’ll miss a crucial scene. Well, don’t worry, the internet is here to help.
A wacky website lets you know when it’s safe to, well, run for a pee. Like a sort of Wee-kipedia for the boring bits of films, it lets users nominate moments that drag, and urination may safely take place. An approximate point in the running time is given for each window of opportunity, along with a brief description of what you’d miss.
For example, if you go to see the Da Vinci Code sequel Angels & Demons, Runpee.com suggests the best time to slip out is 70 minutes. A user writes:
“Robert and a guard are in the Vatican archives and the power goes out (This is a perfect time to Runpee because they don’t even talk much)”.
Harsher critics would say you could give the whole film a miss. Still, if you see someone surfing on their Blackberry in the multiplex and then dash for the exit, we reckon the next bit of the film won’t be crucial to the plot…
In our mind, there’s only two ways to deal with this problem:
- Go to the toilet before entering the cinema.
- Don’t buy any large drink at the concessions stand. Period!
