“Drinking a pint of urine keeps me young!” OAP Sylvia Chandler is full of life and gets chatted up by men- and says it’s down to drinking her own wee!
At 63, Sylvia Chandler is full of energy, never visits the doctor and is a slim size 10. But her secret to looking good isn’t exercise or a strict diet- it’s drinking her own urine.
The mum of two has been downing pints of wee every day for the past 20 years and believes it has cleansing properties, which keep her looking young.
Incredibly, she also uses it as shampoo and moisturiser.
And despite her friends’ initial disgust at her bizarre regime, some of them know drink their own urine in a bid to stay youthful.
Sylvia, from Birmingham, says: “Drinking my own urine has kept me healthy and energised. And it helps me stay young- men are often surprised when I tell them my age.
“I have a glass of urine in the morning and another couple during the day. It tastes delicious- it’s a bit like water, but sweeter.
“My friends and family were horrified at first. But now they’ve seen the positive effects, some of them have started drinking their own wee too.”
Sylvia- who has two daughters, Kate, 31 and Megan, 26- first heard about drinking urine when she was 43.
She recalls: “I’d just opened a health shop and had read about urine and its healing properties. I discovered it worked as a natural cleanser- I’d always been interested in alternative medicine, so I thought I’d try it.
“The first time I drank it, I filled a pint glass with a third of my urine by squatting over a glass in the loo, and topped it up with cranberry juice. I felt queasy at the thought of it, but when I drank it, all I could taste was the cranberry. I soon felt alert and energised.”
Sylvia- who has been married three times- was so pleased with the results, she decided to try drinking urine without any juice a week later.
She says: “I wanted to get the full effects of its cleansing properties. I felt fantastic.”
Sylvia started drinking a pint of urine every day, and used it as a moisturiser and shampoo.
She says: “It made my hair shiny and my skin soft. I saved a fortune of beauty products.
“My partner at the time didn’t have a problem with it. He could see that urine was benefitting me.
“I also use it to heal wounds and kept an old bottle of it in the kitchen in case I burnt myself- older urine has stronger healing properties.
“The more urine I drank, the more pure it became and it didn’t smell at all. I now drink it every time I go to the toilet.”
But not everyone approved. Sylvia says: “My parents were disgusted. But it didn’t bother me- they were the ones missing out on the health benefits.”
Sylvia still drinks her urine and believes it’s changed her life.
She says: “I haven’t been to the doctor in a decade. I never get colds and I’ve maintained my size 10 figure.
“I haven’t got a partner at the moment, but younger men often give me admiring looks.
“I don’t expect everyone to agree with what I do, but it works for me. Urine is the best anti-ageing product and I advise anyone to try it.”
Dr Christian Jessen says: “We urinate to remove toxins, so the idea of drinking it to stay healthy is a myth. It won’t do you any harm, but there are no health benefits. It can work as a moisturiser as it contains urea, which softens the skin. But I wouldn’t advise anyone to drink it.”
